FLOYD COUNTY FALLS TO GRAYSON

Keith Weatherman scored on a driving layup with three seconds left, was fouled, and converted the free throw to cap a huge comeback that gave Grayson County a 50-49 victory over Floyd County on Friday night in the Mountain Empire District.

The Blue Devils (2-0, 2-0) trailed 43-28 early in the fourth quarter, but went on a 16-0 run to take a 44-43 lead with 3 minutes, 38 seconds left.

The Buffaloes (1-1, 1-1) took a 49-45 lead, but Grayson's Bryan Boyer scored with 17 seconds left to make it 49-47, setting up Weatherman's drive.

Phillip Marshall led Floyd County with 24 points, and Shane Griffith led the Blue Devils with 18.

\ Abingdon 67\ Carroll County 56

ABINGDON - The Cavaliers (1-1) had trouble adjusting to the Falcons' zone defense in the third quarter and never recovered as they dropped a non-district game.

Abingdon (2-1) outscored the visitors 19-10 in the third period to open an 11-point lead and hit its free throws down the stretch.

Billy Fullen led the Falcons with 25 points, Wes Basham scored 13 and Scott Moretz added 12.

John Wolford had 19 points and Matt Marowe added 14 for the Cavaliers.

\ Marion 63\ Radford 46

RADFORD - The Scarlet Hurricane pulled away in the fourth quarter for a non-district victory over the Bobcats.

Jason Lefler scored 25 points and Travis Archer had 14 for Marion (2-0), which led by five points entering the final period. Lefler and Archer scored six points each in the quarter.

Radford (2-1) turned over the ball 21 times and went 12-for-26 from the free-throw line.

Casey Underwood led the Bobcats with 15 points. Ricky Erickson added 12.

\ Auburn 95\ Shawsville 53

SHAWSVILLE - Terry Millirons scored 23 points and Mike Bower added 19, including three 3-pointers, as the Eagles routed the Shawnees in a Mountain Empire District game.

Auburn (2-0, 2-0) led by four at the end of the first quarter and hit nine consecutive field-goal attempts at the start of the second period to take a 17-point lead.

Randy Bonds had 15 points for the Eagles.

Darrell Bibb scored 21 points and Tommy Jones had 10 for Shawsville (0-4, 0-2).
