MAGNA VISTA WHIPS GRETNA 89-61

Tony Holmes scored 23 points and Marcus Toney added 20 as Magna Vista whipped host Gretna 89-61 in a Piedmont District boys' basketball game Friday night.

The score was tied after the first period, but Magna Vista broke it open in the second, outscoring Gretna 25-15.

The Hawks' Jason Tucker led all scorers with 28 points.

Tri-Cities 82\ Roanoke Valley Christian 80

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Eagles missed a layup with 10 seconds left in the\ second overtime, and Tri-Cities hung on for the win in a non-district matchup.

Richard Boothe, who led Roanoke Valley Christian (1-3) with 19 points, scored on a layup to send the game into the first overtime, then hit a buzzer-beating three pointer to send the game into the second overtime.

Josh MacDermod added 14 points and 11 assists for the Eagles.

Tri-cities' Jeremy Yelton led all scorers with 33 points.
