OBIT BAKER, WENDELL H. SR.

BAKER, Wendell H. Sr., 77, of Lexington, died Sunday, December 12, 1993 in a local hospital. He was born June 3, 1916 in Lexington to the late Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Maryland Holloway Baker. A member and former trustee of the First Baptist Church, he was a retiree of the Lexington School System. Other affiliations include the Men's Club of First Baptist Church, Masonic Keystone Lodge #39 and the PPP's Social Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie M. Baker; a son, Mr. Wendell H. Baker Jr. of Lexington; three daughters, Miss Maryland Baker, Hampton, Mrs. Hortense Borgus, Lexington, Mrs. Deborah Perry, Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Mr. Napoleon Borgus Sr., Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Adamson, Lexington, Mrs. Laura Palmer, Toldeo, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Friends may call at the Baker residence 302 Fuller Street at any time and at the Lewis Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7 until 8. The funeral service will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James B. Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. J.B.
