WYTHE SHERIFF PICKED FOR TRANSITION PANEL

Wythe County Sheriff Wayne Pike has been chosen as the only sheriff on the transitional advisory committee of Attorney General-elect Jim Gilmore.

Gilmore said Pike and other law enforcement officials, business leaders and legal professionals will advise him on any needed office restructuring, policy and legislative initiatives for the coming year.

Gilmore anticipated that Pike would continue as one of his policy advisers after the transition period ends. Pike had already been among his advisers when he sought the Republican candidacy and when he ran for the office, Gilmore said.
