RADFORD FALLS IN 3 OTS TO TAZEWELL

Kon Patterson drained a 3-pointer with six seconds left in the third overtime, lifting Tazewell to a pulsating 81-80 win over visiting Radford on Monday in a non-district boys' basketball game.

Matt Linkous' 3-pointer at the horn at the end of the first overtime had sent the game to a second extra period.

Scott Phipps paced Tazewell (2-0) with 19 points and Patterson finished with 17.

Casey Underwood's 24 points led Radford. Ricky Erickson had 19 for the Bobcats. \

In other games:

\ Graham 64, Blacksburg 61: At Graham, the Indians had a chance to win but threw the ball away with 3 seconds left and lost to the G-Men.

Blacksburg (0-1) trailed 62-61 after Jacob Dews made a free throw with 8 seconds left. Blacksburg called time out after advancing the ball to halfcourt, but threw away the inbounds pass. Dave Bailey was fouled and made the clinching free throws for Graham (1-0).

Graham led by nine points in the third quarter, but Blacksburg rallied with five 3-point goals in the fourth quarter.

Ben Araman led Blacksburg with 19 points and Jay Safford added 17. \

Pocahontas 75, Carroll County 67: At Pocahontas, the Indians made 20 of 26 free throws in the fourth quarter to turn back the Cavaliers in a non-district game.

Shannon Dawson, who led all scorers with 21 points, made 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch for Pocahontas (2-0). Jason Kreaton added 15 points for the winners.

Carroll County (1-2) got 17 points from Matt Larrowe.
