OBIT STEWART, BIRDIE SMITH

STEWART, Birdie Smith, 85, of Roanoke, died Monday, December 13, 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander R. Stewart, daughter, Betty Rhine and great-granddaughter, Ashley Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Frances L. Wright of Roanoke; grandchildren, Deborah Marshall of Roanoke, Kathi Wright of Roanoke, Kristi Wright of Roanoke, Robert Metz of Texas, Marc Norris of Martinsville, Kenneth Wright of Roanoke; sisters and brothers, Gladys Preston, Marie Lutz, Olin Smith, all of Ohio, Murhl Slaven and Gail Moore, both of West Virginia; six great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 16, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
