FAMILY HONORS THOSE WHO GIVE ALL YEAR LONG

Teachers don't get enough credit. That's what the Clarke family of Roanoke thinks.

So they've contributed to the Good Neighbors Fund this year in honor of the kindergarten and third-grade teachers at Penn Forest Elementary School.

Actually, Sarah, 8, and John, 5, both pupils at Penn Forest, are listed as the contributors.

Vickie Clarke, Sarah and John's mother, thinks giving to Good Neighbors is a meaningful way of putting something back into the community on the teachers' behalf.

The children's teachers "just give so much all year long," she says. "They are just superb. They go beyond what is necessary to be a good teacher."

Sarah just thinks they are nice.

Her brother has a more emphatic appraisal of his kindergarten teacher: "She's real nice."

Checks should be made payable to Good Neighbors Fund and mailed to Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 1951, Roanoke 24008.
