SHENANDOAH LIFE'S `WICK' ANDERSON TO RETIRE JAN. 1

Willis M. "Wick" Anderson will retire Jan. 1 as general counsel and corporate secretary of Shenandoah Life Insurance Co., the company said Friday.

Anderson has represented Shenandoah Life on the board of the Virginia Life, Accident and Sickness Insurance Guaranty Association since 1979. He also has been Virginia's vice president for the American Council of Life Insurance.

A graduate of Roanoke College and Washington and Lee University Law School, Anderson practiced law in Roanoke before joining Shenandoah Life in 1968 as associate general counsel. He became its general counsel in 1969.

Anderson was elected to Roanoke City Council in 1958 and was the city's mayor from 1960 to 1962. He also served four terms in the Virginia House of Delegates. He is chairman of the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
