A lot of area churches have services for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, so families have many choices.
Some churches have set early evening services today so children can come, too. At Grove United Methodist Church in Radford, it's even OK for younger children to show up ready for bed.
Here's an alphabetical listing of churches and their services:
\ BLACKSBURG BAPTIST CHURCH, 550 N. Main St. (552-3869):
Christmas Eve - Communion service, 6:30 p.m.
\ BLACKSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, Eakin and Church streets, Blacksburg (552-2504):
Christmas Eve - Intergenerational service, 5 p.m.; Organ recital, 10:30 p.m.; Worship service with Holy Communion, 11 p.m.
\ BLACKSBURG UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Church and Lee streets, (552-5424):
Christmas Eve - Family worship (young children welcome), 5 p.m.; Service of lessons and carols and Holy Communion, 8 p.m.
Christmas Day - Selections from Handel's "Messiah" will be broadcast on WJJJ (1260 AM), 2-3 p.m.
Sunday - Instead of individual Sunday school classes, the church community will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Whisner Building.

Christmas Eve - Christmas pageant and Holy Eucharist, 4:30 p.m. Festival Eucharist of Christmas Eve, 11 p.m.
Christmas Day - Holy Eucharist, 10 a.m.
Sunday - Holy Eucharist and sermon, 10 a.m. (one service only).

Christmas Eve - Family candlelight service of Holy Communion, 8 p.m., including carols and choral music.

Christmas Eve - Candlelight service, 11 p.m., at Havens Chapel United Methodist Church. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated.
Sunday - Christmas celebration service, 11:15 a.m., Havens Chapel United Methodist Church.

Christmas Eve - A Christmas music program begins at 7:40 p.m. The traditional candlelight service follows at 8 p.m., with Holy Communion.
Sunday - A service of lessons and carols begins at 10 a.m., with Bible readings and Christmas hymns.
