IN SERVICE

JAMES M. WEAVER, a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, has been promoted to the rank of chief master sergeant.

Weaver is the son of Dora M. Weaver of Elliston. He is a 1969 graduate of Shawsville High School.

Weaver is the senior enlisted adviser with the 916th Air Refueling Group at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina.

He is employed as a senior project manager with Black & Decker in Towson, Md. He is a 1985 graduate of Southern Illinois University.

Marine Cpl. CHAD E. ISOM recently was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.

Isom, the son of Harry L. and Margaret S. Isom of Pulaski, is a 1989 graduate of Pulaski County High School.

Isom was cited for superior performance of duty while serving with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Camp Elmore, Norfolk. The award is official recognition for outstanding accomplishments, achievements and devotion to duty.

Those recently completing basic training include:

Navy Fireman DAVID W. BROCKMAN, son of Elaine T. Reese of Riner, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla., and was named his company's Honor Recruit.

Marine Pvt. JAMES R. LEECH, son of William W. and Sara J. Leech of Elliston, completed training at Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Marine Pvt. STEPHEN L. KILBY, son of Lane M. and Barbara A. Kilby, completed training at Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Navy Seaman Recruit KEVIN P. BURGESS, son of Janice C. Burgess of Rich Creek, completed training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Hospitalman Recruit SHERRI L. BROWN, daughter of Arleen J. Brown of Shawsville, completed training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.

Those recently completing special training include:

Navy Airman HEATHER A. SHUCK, daughter of Sharon K. Shuck of Blacksburg, completed the Basic Aerographer's Mate School with the Naval Technical Training Unit at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.

Marine Lance Cpl. SHAWN A. BREWER, son of A.L. Brewer of Floyd, completed the Aviation Electrician's Mate Course at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Naval Air Station Memphis, Millington, Tenn.

Navy Hospitalman Recruit CHRISTOPHER T. KILLGO, son of George M. and Sandy E. Killgo of Blacksburg, graduated from Field Medical Service School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
