Banker joins Jefferson Bankshares

ALLEN T. NELSON JR. , formerly senior vice president and controller of Dominion Bankshares Corp. (now First Union Corp.) in Roanoke, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Jefferson Bankshares Inc. of Charlottesville. He also will be executive vice president and chief financial officer of Jefferson National Bank, the company's banking subsidiary.

Before joining Dominion, he was associated with C&S/Sovran Corp. (now NationsBank) as a finance executive officer.

First Union National Bank of Virginia has named BRENDA H. FISHER consumer credit officer at the consumer loan service center in Roanoke. She was formerly a supervisor at the service center. Before that, Fisher worked for Signet Bank.

JEFFREY N. SWEENEY has joined Wheat First Securities Inc. as a financial consultant in the Galax office.

\ GOVERNMENT

RONALD MILLER, building commissioner in Roanoke, has been elected first vice president of the Virginia Building and Code Officials Association, an affiliate organization of the Virginia Municipal League.

\ HEALTH CARE

PATRICIA LORENCE is the operator of Advantage Chiropractic Health and Fitness Clinic in Roanoke County. Lorence, a certified chiropractic sports physician with a master of science degree in nursing, maintained a practice in Elmhurst, Ill., for the past 10 years. The full-service chiropractic clinic provides a range of patient-care services, with specialization in family practice, nutritional counseling and sports injuries.

\ REAL ESTATE

LINDA McCALL of Shamrock Realty in Abingdon has been elected vice president of the Southwest Broker Council of Century 21, and JOAN ROBBINS of Joan Robbins & Associates in Bedford has been elected treasurer of the Blue Ridge Broker Council of Century 21.

\ UTILITIES

The Virginia Power Board of Directors has elected EDGAR M. ROACH JR. vice president-regulation and assistant general counsel effective Feb. 1. Roach is managing partner of the Raleigh, N.C., office of the Richmond-based law firm of Hunton & Williams. He will supervise and coordinate Virginia Power's dealings with regulatory agencies. Virginia Power, an electric utility, is a unit of Dominion Resources Inc. of Richmond.
