The first lady was the choice of 22 percent, ahead of Mother Teresa, at 14 percent in the poll results broadcast Sunday by CNN.
The president, with 20 percent, finished far ahead of his predecessor, George Bush, who was most admired by 6 percent.
Ten percent chose a friend or relative as their most admired man, while 11 percent chose a loved one as their most admired woman.
Among most admired men, conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh tied retired pro basketball star Michael Jordan with 2 percent. Among the women, Oprah Winfrey tied Britain's Queen Elizabeth with 2 percent.
Rapper Dr. Dre thinks "gangsta" rap is so popular because it gives people living in the suburbs a taste of the ghetto.
"People in the suburbs, they can't go to the ghetto so they like to hear about what's goin' on," Dre said in the Dec. 31 issue of Entertainment Weekly. "Everybody wants to be down."
Dr. Dre put out two of the hottest rap albums this year.
His album "The Chronic" has sold over 3 million copies, while Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Doggystyle," which Dre produced, sold 800,000 copies in its first week in the stores.
"I guess music talks," the 28-year-old Dre told the magazine.
Entertainment Weekly put Dr. Dre on its list of the top dozen entertainers of the year.
