OBIT KIRKWOOD, RICHARD E.

KIRKWOOD, Richard E., 66, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 23, 1993 in a local hospital. He was a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia University, and recently retired Library Director of Hollins College, a position he held for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Karin H. Kirkwood; one daughter, Anna D. Kirkwood, East Lansing Mich.; three sons, Thomas C. Kirkwood, Chicago, Ill., John D. Kirkwood and Richard C. Kirkwood both of Roanoke; two sisters, Eleanor C. Rogers, Kokomo, Ind., Anna K. Hennesy, Seattle, Wash. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Hollins College at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to The Nature Conservancy of Charlottesville, Va. 22903-4800. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel, Monday 6 to 8 p.m.
