OBIT GILLESPIE, CHARLES R. SR.

GILLESPIE, Charles R. Sr., 70, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, December 25, 1993. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Campaign during World War II and was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Gillespie Jr. Surviving are his wife, Julia F. Gillespie; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sara and Howard Hardy, Rocky Mount, Dot and Bill Heckman, Grand Junction, Colo., Jean St. Jacques, Rocky Mount, Debbie and Clint Sharp, Miami, Fla.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Gillespie, Ronnie and Patty Gillespie, Tony and Cindy Gillespie, all of Rocky Mount; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Eunice Gillespie, Jean Ward, Annie Hart. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 1993 at the Arrington-Bussey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James H. Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boones Mill Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arrington-Bussey Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.
