OBIT STURM, VIRGINIA FRYE BUTTS

STURM, Virginia Frye Butts, 85, of Blacksburg, a resident of Showalter Center, died Monday, December 27, 1993, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Sturm was born in Loudoun County, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Frank and Jessica Butts. She received a bachelors degree at the University of West Virginia, a masters from Duke University and taught at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and at the University of West Virginia. She was a member of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Albert Lee Sturm Jr. Surviving are one nephew, Whitmore Spencer Butts Jr., Pensacola, Fla.; one grand-nephew, Lt. Commander, Spencer Butts, U.S. Navy, Virginia Beach; one grand-niece, Suzanne Butts, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Green, Appalachia and Margaret Deakins, Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, Frederick Sturm, Yakima, Wash.; several cousins in Lovettsville, Virginia and Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, Virginia.
