3,000 LOSE POWER IN MONTGOMERY

The outage occurred around 7 p.m. and affected Appalachian Power customers in the Prices Fork, McCoy and west Blacksburg areas - including the Fox Ridge Apartment complex - according to Glenda Wohlford, administrative assistant for Apco's Pulaski Division.

Wohlford said a tree near the Prices Fork station had fallen on a power line, causing the outage.

About 2,000 customers had power through an alternate source as of 10:45 p.m., Wohlford said. The remaining 1,000 customers would be without power until this morning.
