DOMESTIC COAL PRODUCTION TOTALED 18.4 MILLION

Domestic coal production totaled 18.4 million tons in the week ending Dec. 18, down 6 percent from 19.5 million tons the previous week, the U.S. Department of Energy reported The U.S. coal industry produced 20.1 million tons in the same week last year.

Domestic coal production so far this year is 968 million tons, 5 percent behind last year's production at this time.
