RADFORD DROPS GEORGE WYTHE

Ricky Clark scored 14 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Radford dropped George Wythe 70-60 on Tuesday in the WOLD Marion Invitational boys' basketball tournament.

Radford outscored George Wythe 20-6 in the third quarter to erase a four-point halftime deficit.

Ryan Brittle added 13 points and Casey Underwood scored 12 for the Bobcats (3-5).

Aaron Andrews led George Wythe with 22 points.

Radford plays the winner of Tuesday night's Grayson County-Chilhowie winner at 4:45 p.m. today.

FAIRFAX - Jodie Hallett scored 20 points and Carrie McConnell added 14 to lead the Cougars past the Seahawks in the first round of the Book Jammin' Christmas tournament.

The other three first-round games scheduled for Tuesday were postponed until Thursday because of snow.

The Cougars (2-2) bolted to a 33-9 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way. Kia Coles led South Lakes with 15 points.

\ Northwood 53, Radford 51: In Marion, the Bobcats lost to the Panthers in the first round of the WOLD Marion Invitational despite a game-high 16 points by Casey Underwood.

Radford (2-5) also held high-scoring Jon Griffin of Northwood (4-1) to 10 points. Daniel Kestner led the Panthers with 14.

\ Marion 72, Grayson County 66: In Marion, the Scarlet Hurricane (5-0) staged a fourth-quarter rally to down the Blue Devils (4-1) in the first round game of the Marion WOLD Invitational.

Marion, which trailed by five points at the end of the third quarter, was led by Josh Hayes with a career-high 21 points. Anthony Kinzer added 14 and Jason Lefler 13.

Grayson County was paced by Brian Boyer with a game-high 26 points.

\ Christiansburg 66, Chilhowie 63: In Marion, John Hairston hit a 3-point shot with a second left as the Blue Demons edged the Warriors in the opening round of the Marion WOLD Invitational.

\ Floyd County 78, Roanoke Catholic 54: Jason Light had a triple-double - 33 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks - to lead the Buffaloes past the Celtics in the first round of the North Cross Holiday Classic.

Dean Royer scored 11 points and Mike Kolnok had 10 for Roanoke Catholic, which was outscored 24-12 in the third quarter. \

Auburn 73, Craig County 33: Frank Reed scored 22 points, and the Eagles built a 45-15 halftime lead en route to a rout of the Rockets in the first round of the North Cross Holiday Classic.
