The training series will provide information about individual and family support legislation, how to be a part of the statewide consumer and family network to help promote beneficial legislation, and how to promote legislation at state and local levels.
Family support is a cost-effective way to prevent expensive out-of-home placement for children with severe developmental, physical and sensory disabilities. Individual supports enable adults with the same disabilities to live independently in the community.
Training sessions will be held from 3 until 5:30 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Independent Living Center, 1502 David Williamson Rd. N.E. (contact Karen Michalski, 342-1231), and from 7 until 9:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Jefferson St. (contact The ARC of Roanoke, 982-2018)

Craig County gets second cable service
NEW CASTLE - Craig County will get a second cable television system early in 1994 when a Giles County telephone company will offer cable service in the southern part of the county.
The Pembroke Telephone Co., has been awarded a franchise by the Craig board of supervisors to offer service in the portion of Craig bordering Giles.
Pembroke, which also plans to offer cable TV in Giles, is taking advantage of a federal law allowing telephone companies to offer community cable television.
Star Cable, headquartered in Dobson, N.C., currently offers cable service in the New Castle area of Craig.
