THIERRY, EDMOND, 95, OF ROANOKE DIED WEDNESDAY,
THIERRY, Edmond, 95, of Roanoke died Wednesday, December 29, 1993, in a
local hospital following a brief illness. He was born July 2, 1898, the son of
Leon and Aimee Angele (Monsuele) Thierry, and had been a lifelong resident of
Roanoke. His wife of 52 years, Myra Lockett Thierry, died in 1970. From 1917
until his retirement he was employed by the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He
was also a well-known builder and was responsible for the construction of more
than 40 homes in the Roanoke-Salem area. Mr. Thierry was an avid naturalist, a
long-time supporting member of Calvary Baptist Church of Roanoke and a member
of Vinton Lodge 204, AF & AM. He leaves three daughters, Vivian Lloyd (Peggy)
Thierry of Roanoke, Geraldine T. Lyle and husband, C.R. Lyle II of Jaffrey,
N.H. and Betty T. Martin of Adelanto, Calif.; two grandsons, Colin R. Lyle of
Keene, N.H. and Merritt Thierry Martin of Adelanto, and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31, 1993,
at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating.
Masonic rites will be performed by Vinton Lodge 204 AF & AM. Burial will be in
Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday at Oakey's Roanoke. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society or to Father Flanagan's "Boys Town."
