WHEELER, ALVIN R., 68, OF ROANOKE, DIED

WHEELER, Alvin R., 68, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 28, 1993 at Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center. He was retired from the Eaton Corp. and worked part time at Northwest Hardware after his retirement. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and the Valley View Walking Club. He served in World War II where he received the Purple Heart and other metals. Surviving are his wife, Doris W. Wheeler; sons, Gary Wheeler and Dean Wheeler, both of Roanoke; grandsons, Gary Michael and Joshua Allen Wheeler; three brothers, Calvin R. Wheeler, Vinton, Luther Wheeler, Vinton, Wayne Wheeler, Verona; a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 3 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. H. Kelly Dampeer officiating. Interment will follow in in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
