MOTLEY, CARLTON EDWARD, 61, OF ROUTE 3,

MOTLEY, Carlton Edward, 61, of Route 3, Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, December 29, 1993 at his residence. Mr. Motley was a deacon at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Motley. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Koger Motley of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Linda Motley, Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Don Palmer, Penhook, Laurie and Timmy Oakley, Martinsville; two grandchildren, Evan Motley and Elizabeth Palmer; two stepgrandchildren, Eric and Craig Moore; his mother, Vergie E. Motley of Eldercare; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Curtis Washburn, Penhook, Betty and Carl Payne, Jamestown, N.C., Paulette and Albert Williams, McLeansville, N.C., Joyce and Roger Yates, Kernesville, N.C., Donna and Daniel Mounce, Martinsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Linda Motley, Salem, Toney and Regina Motley, Glade Hill; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leonard and Julia Cannaday, Rocky Mount; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. W.H. (Shelba) Bousman, Rocky Mount, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Teague, Martinsville, Betsy Kendrick, Roanoke; one brother-in-law, Andrew Koger, Ringgold; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday 2 p.m. in Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Voss and the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Snow Creek Rescue Squad or the Mount Carmel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount.
