WILLIAMS, LAWRENCE DEWITT, 93, OF PEMBROKE,
WILLIAMS, Lawrence Dewitt, 93, of Pembroke, Va. died Tuesday, December 28,
1993, in a Pearisburg, Va. hospital. Born in Giles County on July 5, 1900, he
was a son of the late John and Ida R. Williams. He was a member of The First
united Methodist Church of Pembroke, and Castle Rock Lodge No. 334 AF & AM. A
daughter, Beulah W. Bostic and a grandson, Eric Bostic preceded him in death.
For over 50 yers he was an employee of W.W. Boxley Quarries. Surviving are his
beloved wife of 70 years, Helen Stiff Williams; one son and daughter-in-law,
Lawrence D. "Larry" Williams, Jr. and Judy N. Williams of Lynchburg, Va.;
three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn W. and John H. Knibb of Chesapeake,
Va. Jacqueline W. and Dr. James E. Etheridge of Norfolk, Va., Lois W. and
William D. Cumbie of Roanoke, Va., a devoted son-in-law, Arnold Bostic of
Ripplemeade, Va.; one sister, Thelma W. Membery of Point Orange, Fla.; eleven
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted
Friday 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at Pembroke, Va. with the
Rev. J. Max Brown, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pembroke
officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park at Pearisburg, Va. The
family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
