OBIT JAMISON, CARRIE ELIZABETH

JAMISON, Carrie Elizabeth, 104, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 30, 1993 at Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Center. She was born December 9, 1889 near Davidson, N.C. a daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Jane Johnson Thompson. Mrs. Jamison was a graduate of North Carolina State Normal College at Greensboro, N.C. and studied music at Elizabeth Conservatory in Charlotte, N.C. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former member of Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters and Sons, Oakenwold Garden Club and the Tuesday Club of Augusta County. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sidney M. (Eleanor) Supple of Staunton, Mrs. Hunter M. (Marianna) Leach of Leesburg; two grandchildren, Mary Hunter Leach of Philadelphia, Pa., Chalmers Jamison of Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Chalmers Jamison on February 2, 1971 and a daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Jamison in 1926. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Center conducted by Dr. J.H.J. Vernon, Dr. James Guthrie and the Rev. Marion M. Simmons. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 1994 in Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, N.C. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 329, Staunton, Va. 24402-0329 or to Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Center, P.O. Box 928, Harrisonburg, Va. 22801. Hamrick Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
