OBIT DAVIS, ELMER P.

DAVIS, Elmer P., "80-ish", of Forest Lawn Drive, Moneta, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Christmas Eve afternoon, December 24, 1993. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippine campaigns with the Army. He retired from the Virginia Highway Department in 1975 as maintenance superintendent for part of Roanoke County. Prior employment in the 1950's was with Hercules Powder Company. Elmer was an outdoorsman and loved baseball, playing in his younger days. He is survived by his wife, Frances McCray Davis. A service in celebration of life will be conducted by the Rev. Robert J. Maier at the Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton on Friday, December 31, 1993, at 2 p.m. and the cremains will be buried in a graveside service at Franklin Memorial Park, Route 220, Rocky Mount, Virginia. Memorials may be made to Glade Creek Lutheran Church, 180 Webster Road, Blue Ridge, Virginia 24064.
