MORE VA. MALLS BAN SMOKING

Two enclosed shopping centers in Hampton Roads are joining other malls around Virginia that have banned smoking in nearly all areas.

Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach will ban smoking in its hallways Saturday. Military Circle mall in Norfolk will restrict smoking Jan. 22.

At Lynnhaven, smokers still will be able to light up in the designated smoking areas of the mall's three enclosed restaurants, or simply step outside. The open food court will be off-limits, though.

Other malls that have restricted smoking include Fashion Square in Charlottesville and Potomac Mills and Pentagon City in northern Virginia.
