Kmart Corp. on Monday reported 1993 net income of $534 million, or $1.15 per share, excluding a pretax provision of $1.35 billion to cover restructuring expenses. Net income in 1992 was $882 million, or $1.93 per share. The Troy, Mich-based retailer said 1993 sales were $34.16 billion, up 10.1 percent from $31.03 billion.
Fourth-quarter net income, excluding the nonrecurring items, was $247 million, or 53 cents per share, compared with 1992's $501 million, or $1.07 per share. Sales rose 8.7 percent to $10.27 billion from $9.44 billion in the 1992 period, excluding the PACE Membership Warehouse and PayLess Drug Store divisions, which the company expects to divest.

Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., Louisville, Ky., parent of Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, on Monday reported combined operating results for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 31.
Excluding nonrecurring transactions, Columbia/HCA's combined fourth-quarter earnings per share of 52 cents was an 18 percent increase from 44 cents for the 1992 quarter. Net revenues totaled $2.6 billion on a combined basis, compared with $2.5 billion.
For the 12 months, combined revenues totaled $10.3 billion, up from $9.9 billion in 1992. Combined income from continuing operations before extraordinary or one-time items totaled $673 million, or $1.99 per share in 1993, up from $597 million, or $1.82 per share.
