FESTIVAL UPDATE
Next Saturday, March 12, Hollins College will host its 34th Literary
Festival. As regulars already know, things begin at 9:30 a.m. with
registration in the Green Drawing Room. The day's schedule then proceeds with
military precision to the morning readings at 10:30. Mary Gaitskill, author
of "Two Girls, Fat and Thin," will read from her fiction. She'll be followed
by a familiar face, Henry Taylor reading from his Pulitizer Prize-winning
poetry. Then in the afternoon, Elizabeth Dewberry Vaughn will read her
fiction, possibly from her delightfully titled novel, "Many Things Have
Happened Since He Died And Here Are the Highlights ..."
The day winds down with the ever-popular poetry panel - R.H.W. Dillard,
Jeanne Larsen and the aforementioned H.T. - and a reception upstairs in the
Dana Lounge. There is no admission charge, and the modestly priced lunch in
the Moody dining room is always a bargain.
