KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS AT HAND

It's that time for year again - time for parents to register their children for kindergarten and first-grade classes for the next school year.

Registration will be Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the elementary school in their area.

All children who will be 5 on or before Sept. 30 are eligible for kindergarten.

Pupils who are now attending kindergarten in county schools are not required to register. However, children who are enrolled in private kindergarten must register.

Roanoke will register kindergarten and first-grade children on March 24 and 25 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the elementary school where the child will attend.

Registration is for children who will enter kindergarten and children now enrolled in private kindergarten who will attend first grade next year.

Registration also is for children not enrolled in kindergarten this year, but who expect to enter first grade in the fall.

Pupils who are attending kindergarten in city schools are not required to register to enter first grade. Children who will be entering kindergarten or first grade at Morningside Elementary should register at Fallon Park Elementary.

Applications for preschool (4-year-olds) also will be accepted for the following schools: Fallon Park, Forest Park, Garden City, Highland Park, Hurt Park, Lincoln Terrace, Preston Park, Roanoke Academy, Round Hill, Virginia Heights and Westside.
