`SUSPICIOUS' FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE

A fire described as suspicious destroyed a vacant house in Northwest Roanoke on Monday night.

Fire Department officials said the house at 619 11th St. N.W. was completely in flames when fire crews arrived.

Investigators had not found the owner of the house, which neighbors said had been vacant for more than a week.

Officials said the two-story brick house was a complete loss, with an estimated $40,000 in damages.
