LIBERTY WINS BIG SOUTH

In North Charleston, S.C., freshman Peter Aluma scored 14 points and had nine rebounds Monday to lead Liberty to a 76-62 victory over Campbell for its first Big South Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Liberty was led by Aluma's 12 first-half points and took a 37-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Campbell's Joe Spinks, the Big South's player of the year, scored a game-high 28 points. His 1-for-13 shooting in the first half, however, helped spot Liberty to its insurmountable lead.

Liberty led 48-38 with 10 minutes left, when the Camels turned over the ball and Camels' coach Billy Lee was called for a technical foul.

Matt Hildebrand converted both free throws and Jody Chapman sank a 3-pointer to put Liberty back in control.
