Jill Renee Middleton received the President's Youth Service Award from the Commission on National and Community Service for her volunteer work with the Radford Public Library's after-school projects. She was honored with a certificate, letter from President Clinton and a gold sculpted pen with the presidential seal.

As shift leader for the program, she supervised student volunteers who developed, planned and held the educational after-school programs for children whose parents work.

Middleton graduated magna cum laude from Radford University where she majored in criminal justice. She plans to attend law school in the fall. The 22-year-old award winner is the daughter of Leo and Barbara Middleton of Christiansburg.
