PUPILS DO AS ROMANS DO FOR `OLYMPICS OF LITERACY'

Sixth-grade pupils at Dublin Middle School will celebrate their knowledge of ancient Greece and Rome from 1 to 3 p.m. WednesdayMarch9 with a program that includes a banquet and a visit from K-92 radio personalities who attended the Winter Olympic Games.

The students have been playing their own ``Olympics of Literacy'' game since mid-February. They accumulated points through a variety of activities such as designing a ``travel brochure'' for ancient Greece or Rome, writing myths for a class anthology, writing and illustrating a poem about their favorite Winter Olympics sport, researching the Olympics site of Lillehammer, Norway, and coming up with their own ideas for events.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to students who accumulated enough points with their ``Olympics of Literacy'' inter-disciplinary activities to earn them.

The students will be dressed in ancient Roman-style clothing for the day, and will dine on foods from this time period.
