275 CUSTOMERS STILL IN DARK, APCO REPORTS

The lights remained out for a little more than 300 Appalachian Power Co. customers in the Roanoke and New River valleys Tuesday night, the last of nearly 80,000 who lost service due to last week's ice storm.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, Apco reported 275 customers were without power in the company's Roanoke Division, down from 693 at 4 p.m. The 10 p.m. total comprised 175 in Henry County, 40 in the Roanoke area, 35 in Franklin County and 25 in Patrick County.

In the New River Valley, 42 customers were without service at 4 p.m. - the majority located in Floyd County, according to Glenda Wohlford, administrative assistant for Apco's Pulaski Division. Power has been restored to all Apco customers in the Lynchburg area.
