DIFFERENT STROKES MAKE IT GO

Yvonne Wilbourn, 24, and Rob Burch, 27, co-owners of The Underground, aren't your average retailers.

They are, however, a contrast in styles.

``He's a tightwad; I'm a spender,'' she said. If she's the optimist, he's the cynic.

She dons polka-dotted leggings and wears makeup like a model, which she is.

He sports a punker/grunge look, with the flannel shirt wrapped around his waist, the boots and a sides-shaved haircut.

``She's always saying, `You've gotta wear the store's clothes,''' Burch said. But until Wilbourn brought in a line of polyesters recently, the store's clothes weren't for him.

Someday, some way, they plan to elope, she says.

They'd been saving money to buy a house, working their jobs and selling jewelry on the sidewalk for extra money, when they noticed the store for rent last April.

They pooled their savings, took out a couple of loans and bought it.
