VIRGINIA WESTERN NAMED BENEFICIARY OF ESTATE

The educational foundation of Virginia Western Community College recently received $50,000 from the estate of Sidney Louis Hyatt. The gift, named in memory of Hyatt and his brother, Babe, will be used to establish an endowment to provide financial assistance to students and for faculty development.

The brothers owned a cattle and lamb brokerage in Bonsack and traded livestock in Virginia and neighboring states. During their lifetimes, the two contributed to colleges and churches in the communities in which they did business.
