VIRGINIA OPEN TO BE HELD AT NORTH CROSS

Clubs from nine states are expected to compete at the Virginia Open wrestling tournament Saturday at North Cross School.

Competition will consist of four divisions: Senior (11th and 12th grades), Junior (ninth and 10th grades), Middle (sixth, seventh and eighth grades) and Pee Wee (fifth grade and below).

Entry fee for wrestlers is $10. Weigh-ins will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Fee for spectators is $5. For more information, call Ron or Jerrie Childress at 721-5643.

In Ashland, Bo Williams shared medalist honors with a 5-over-par 75 as Washington and Lee won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Invitational golf tournament. The Generals finished with a team score of 306 to beat second-place Hampden-Sydney by seven strokes at Hanover Country Club.

Thirty-two basketball teams are expected to compete in the Knights of Columbus Midget-Little-Junior League Tournaments at Roanoke Catholic High School today through March 20.

Opening ceremonies and first-round games start at 4:45 p.m. today.

During the tournaments, the Knights of Columbus also will play host to the Roanoke Valley High School One-on-One Contest and a cheerleading competition.

There is a one-time $2 charge for admission to all tournament games. Children under 5 are admitted free.
