NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM WINS GRANT

The Virginia Museum of Natural History received one of 10 national grants for $2,500 from the Mutual of Omaha's Wildlife Heritage Trust.

The museum, based in Martinsville, will use the money to create four "Endangered Species Feud" games that will travel the state and reach about 72,000 students a year.

The games turn classrooms into a television game-show set, complete with bells and buzzers; students answer questions about the ecology and endangered species.

Mutual of Omaha - known for its sponsorship of the "Wild Kingdom" television program - awards the grants to zoos, nature centers and other conservation groups across the country dedicated to preserving wilderness and wildlife.

Other recipients of this year's grants include the Metro Washington Park Zoo in Portland, Ore., and the Awbury Arboretum Association in Philadelphia.
