TECH HOSTS APPALACHIAN CONFERENCE

Virginia Tech is the site of this weekend's 17th annual Appalachian Studies Conference and 7th annual Appalachian Youth Conference. The event, running through Sunday, covers Appalachian-related topics such as health care, educational disparity, literature and writers, the Civil War era, community issues, religion, economics and minority groups.

Guests include Congressman Rick Boucher and author Archie Green. Boucher will speak at a luncheon and Green will deliver the keynote address at the conference banquet.
