Stetson (17-5) won the tournament by winning all six of its games. Tech won four of six and finished second.
The Hatters, winners of 13 straight, took an early 4-0 lead, but the Hokies (5-7) scored two runs in the fifth inning and cut the deficit to 4-3 in the seventh when Kris Turberville scored on Mike Terhune's double. Terhune got a single, a double and a triple in four plate appearances.
In the bottom of the seventh, Stetson scored two runs to move the lead to 6-3. In the bottom of the eighth, the Hatters added three more runs after two Tech errors.
Stetson's James Hufstetler pitched 8 innings, allowing 11 hits, and was named the tournament's most valuable player. Tech third baseman Bo Durkac, along with center fielder Popeye Smith and first baseman/outfielder Kevin Barker were named to the all-tournament team.
The Hokies will play their first home game of the season Monday at 3 p.m. against Richmond.

Senior Alex Vaxmonsky scored on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth inning as Radford scored a 4-3 win over UNC Asheville, giving the Highlanders a split in their Big South Conference doubleheader with the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs had 12 hits and were helped by three Highlanders errors in the first game, which they won 11-6.
Radford (5-4) saw a 3-0 lead disappear in the second game as the Bulldogs (3-5) scored three unearned runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score.
Junior Travis Toms, who came in for starting pitcher Jim Abbott with two out in the sixth, got the win in relief for Radford. Toms gave up one hit and had one strikeout.
VMI swept a Southern Conference doubleheader Saturday against Furman in Lexington.
The Keydets' Timmy Williams went 3-for-4 in the first game, hitting a double and scoring three runs as VMI won 8-5. John Payne pitched all nine innings for VMI, allowing 14 hits.
The Keydets picked up four runs in the sixth inning of the second game to win 6-2. The runs came off four hits and two wild pitches to widen a one-run lead.
Billy Goodrich picked up his second relief appearance win of the season for VMI.
In Rocky Mount, N.C., Chris Bryant hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving North Carolina Wesleyan (7-0) an 8-7 win over Ferrum in the Panthers' Dixie Conference opener.
Ferrum (4-1), ranked 13th in NCAA Division III, tied the score 7-7 after Chad Maddox hit a grand-slam home run in the top of the ninth. He was 2-for-5.
The No. 5 Battlin' Bishops (7-0) took a 7-3 lead after scoring four runs in the sixth inning.
In Lexington, Brad Hartman allowed six hits, giving Washington and Lee a 4-1 win and a split with Randolph-Macon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday. The Yellow Jackets (7-2, 2-1) won the first game 9-1. In the second game, Matt Ermigiotti hit a two-run home run in the third inning for Washington and Lee, and Hartman got a game-ending double play with the tying run at the plate. The win snapped a five-game winless streak for the Generals (3-5-1).
