UVA, JMU, LIBERTY ON TELEVISION IN FIRST ROUND

Roanoke's WDBJ (Channel 7) will televise games involving all three state entries - Virginia, James Madison and Liberty - in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. CBS has exclusive rights to the 64-team field and has regional coverage of the first two rounds.

UVa's West Region opener against New Mexico tips off Friday at 2:50 p.m., following the North Carolina-Liberty opener at Landover, Md., in the East Region at 12:20 p.m. The Friday night doubleheader has Duke-Texas Southern at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Arkansas-North Carolina A&T game. James Madison's East Region date at Nassau Coliseum against Florida is the Thursday nightcap, with a 10 p.m. tipoff, following a West Region game, Missouri-Navy.

CBS' NCAA coverage starts at noon Thursday. WDBJ will air the early minutes of the St. Louis-Maryland game, then switch to the Wake Forest-College of Charleston tipoff at 12:35 p.m. The second afternoon regional game has Southern Conference champion Tennessee-Chattanooga against Kansas at 2:45.

The network will have live cut-ins to other games. The second round regional telecasts will be aired in nine-hour and seven-hour shows Saturday and Sunday, respectively. - Staff report
