3 THROWN FROM CAR; MAN, 20, CHARGED

A Christiansburg man was charged with reckless driving after his car rolled off Palmer Drive in Blacksburg, throwing all three occupants from the car.

The car, driven by David Y. Mitchell, skidded off the road, hit a tree, then flipped over twice. Mitchell, 20, was thrown through the open T-top of his car when it began flipping, according to Blacksburg police. His passengers, Steven E. Shelor of Christiansburg and Shawn D. Marshall of Rural Retreat, were thrown through the doors of the car.

Police said none of the men was wearing a seat belt.
