BUILDING-CODE CLASSES PLANNED

New building codes effective in Virginia next month will be explained in training classes provided by the Department of Housing and Community Development and Virginia Building Code Officials Association.

Training sessions are scheduled March 30, April 13 and April 30 at Hungry Mother State Park's Hemlock Haven near Marion; and March 29, April 12 and April 19 at the Holiday Inn in Norton.

The first session at each site will cover state regulations and construction of one- and two-family houses; the second will cover plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes; and the third will cover training on the Building Code Officials Association code, fire regulations and property maintenance codes.

Registration is required five days before each session. The fee is $15 per day, and enrollment can be for one, two or all three days. To register, call Shirley Spencer at 783-7259.
