YORK - A study of expansion plans for Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is moving too quickly and does not include enough input from York County, officials there say.
The Peninsula Airport Commission has not adequately addressed concerns about noise pollution and a possible road closing, said George M. Homewood, the county's planning officer.
Jere M. Mills, a York County supervisor, said York County is not giving York officials enough say in the deliberations.
The commission is composed of six members, four representing the city of New port News and two from Hampton. Newport News is solely responsible for the airport's finances.
York County once had a place on the commission, but dropped out in the mid-1980s when it was asked to increase its financial contribution.

Health care firm earnings down
ALEXANDRIA - PHP Healthcare Corp., which manages healthcare services for government and businesses, reported earnings were down 78 percent in the third quarter, due largely to loss of four large contracts.
The Alexandria-based firm earned $139,000 in the quarter ended Jan. 31 compared to $632,000 in the same period a year earlier. Per-share earnings fell to three cents from 13 cents.
PHP said four major clients did not renew their contracts in the quarter, and the firm increased funds spent on marketing.
Revenue for the quarter rose 23.6 percent to $40.9 million from $33.1 million.
