TROUT ANGLERS GET REPRIEVE AT PEAK CREEK

Here's some good news if you thought your plans to fish Peak Creek in Pulaski County were dashed because storm-downed trees blocked trout-stocking trucks: The road is clear and the creek will be stocked today.

Lt. Steve Vinson of the state Department of Game and Fisheries' District 1 reported Thursday that the Pulaski County Department of Parks and Recreation had finished removing trees that had blocked the road since the last storm more than two weeks ago.

Peak Creek was the only trout stream in the six-county district that had not been stocked. The district is made up of Giles, Craig, Montgomery, Pulaski, Floyd and Carroll counties.

Trout season opens at 9 a.m. Saturday.
