WORKERS OK GM CONTRACT

A union representing about 3,000 workers from two General Motors Corp. brake-making plants approved a contract agreement Thursday, ending a strike that halted production at GM assembly plants in three states.

"I'm ecstatic," Joe Hasenjager, president of United Auto Workers Local 696, said after 97 percent of the voting union members approved the threey-year deal. The vote: 1,266 to 39.
