Avise is currently the director of operations and education and has been a member of the staff of the symphony since 1987.
The interim general manager position is a newly created, six-month role with the orchestra staff. Avise will work with the music director and conductor, Victoria Bond, and the chief volunteer leadership of the symphony to guide the professional staff in administration of the orchestra program.
Avise's appointment comes after the resignation of Margarite Fourcroy, who has accepted a position as corporate and foundations manager with the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Michigan.
