ROANOKE MAN HIT BY CARS, KILLED

A Roanoke man was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by at least two vehicles while walking in the southbound line of Interstate 95, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Gary Blaine Stover, 37, of 4412 Hazelridge Road N.W., was walking alone on I-95 around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when he was hit, said E.W. Jones, a supervisor with the highway patrol.

Jones said the highway patrol received several calls from motorists that the victim was "weaving in and out of traffic" before he was hit.

"It wasn't a case of a stranded motorist or anything like that," Jones said. "He was just walking."

An autopsy is being conducted on Stover's body, Jones said.
