VIDEO CONFERENCE ON BLACK ISSUES TO AIR

Syndicated columnist Julianne Malveaux will moderate an interactive video conference on "Black Issues 10th Anniversary Celebration: A Decade of Learning, Growing and Sharing Together" to be aired via satellite today from 1 to 3 p.m. at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington.

Featured panelists include: William Gray, president of the United Negro College Fund; Betty Siegal, president of Kennesaw State College; and Laudelina Martinez, president of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

A taped interview with Mary Frances Berry, chairwoman of the Civil Rights Commission, will also be shown.

Program segments will include a political correctness debate, crises of the black male, and effects of the Reagan-Bush administrations' equity polices on affirmative action and equal employment opportunity officers.

The public is invited to attend the conference, which will be held in Room 147 of Mallory Hall. Admission is free.

The conference is being sponsored by Black Issues in Higher Education.
