BASEBALL VMI ROUTS RADFORD 10-1

VMI snapped a seven-game losing streak by whipping Radford 10-1 on Tuesday in Lexington.

The Highlanders (9-7) held a 1-0 lead after the first inning, then was shut out for the rest of the game.

The Keydets (10-12) scored two runs in the third inning on doubles by Louie Napoleon and John Payne, and added three runs in the fifth when Dave Sullivan, Ryan Glynn and David Groseclose singled.

The Keydets extended their lead in the seventh and eighth innings with home runs by Glynn, Payne and Franco Martin.

VMI freshman Jay Adams picked up his first victory, and Mark Walker took the loss for Radford.

Virginia Tech will play Liberty University at English Field in Blacksburg at 3 p.m. Thursday. The game is a makeup of a rainout.
